Those are hardware-sourced NMIs, and as such, still hardware errors. Looks like the weeks-old firmware updates solved my problem.

Update BIOS from 1.5.4 to 2.0.1 ( Source).The changes Dell had me make before this test run was: UPDATE : stable for 70+ hours, which is the longest this server has run w/o a problem. I'm about at my wits end with this $20,000 boondoggle. Google hits here and here show dell support threads with two others with the same chassis having the exact same problem running ESXi 5.5 but there is no posted resolution.

I've verified that the "lsi_mr3" driver ESXi has chosen to use matches the VID/DID/SVID/SSID and PERC firmware version.ĭell support has been trying to puzzle this one out too for the last month, and has even gone as far as replacing THE ENTIRE SERVER, but the same crashes/PSODs keep occurring.
I've installed both ESXi 6.0 u1 and u2 via Dell's published installation ISOs. I can't get this server to run a single Windows 2008R2 guest, installed via P2V vCenter Converter Standalone, for more than 48 hours (sometimes as little as 10 minutes) before ESXi crashes with an NMI error (photo).
